Meeeee-ontage Part 2

all my student cards from grades 9-12. i'd be 17 or 18 in the last one.

both these pics are from the first time i ever went to NYC. i'm about 16-17 and there was a lot of underage drinking and hotel room antics going on. we also got to visit almost every museum and gallery in about 3 days...it was sick and only cost like $400 if I recall

outside of high school in grade 11 or somewhere around there. i wore a lot of blue and blank sweatshirts at the time. that girl's name is becky caulford...we were friends at the time...she was like the only girl in school who wrote graf.

this is a pic taken the night after this dude's cottage party. he's sitting beside me. i think i was probably on mushrooms or just got really really drunk the night before. we are in harvey's(sorry americans you won't get that one) and out of nowhere mad latin girls appeared in the spot. we took a token pic with them because we had a thing for the latin ladies at that time. you can see my enthusiasm in the pic. i was still not legal drinking age but not sure how old i would have been here.

here's a pic of me with one of my early tags. i spent so much money on that north face jacket...i had to special order it since it wasn't available in canada and my aunt paid for it on her credit card. i'm 18 here for sure....

after my last year of high school i went to chile for 2 months to visit with my friend matthew(see last post) who was living there at the time. i grew an afro a few times in my life but at this particular juncture it was at it's peak. i'm probably 20 in this pic.

i can't remember where this pic fits into the timeline at all...but at one point my boy dennis and i went to nyc for like 3 days and met up with this dread named "Trom"...he let us stay at his place for our last night there and we bought half an ounce of weed from franklin ave which at the time was one of the scariest places i had ever been. i imagine the copious amounts of weed that i have smoked in my life has something to do with why i can't remember when this was...

here's another pic from that trip.

The next 5 or so years of my life involved a lot of weed and rap music...both listening to and making/performing. I don't really remember the timeline of any of it but suffice it to say those years of working bullshit jobs and being creative and spending time with my friends is a contributing factor to the man i am today.

I was heavy into camping and being a materialistic hippie at one point there too.

Somewhere in there digital cameras were invented so the quality of my photos improves slightly.

I liked balancing on things after I saw early videos of dudes doing Le Parkour.

I'm totally wearing Brazil dunks in this pic but you can't see it. I swear.

At one point I thought that wearing a t shirt on my head with a trucker hat over it was a good look.

Then kicks took over.

When I was 25, I finally moved out of my mom's crib and the next 2 years are basically what I call the "Crunk" years of my life. We took it to the top in every way possible and it's definitely a contributing factor to my current state of sobriety.

The longest my beard has ever been.

Then I had a string of really bad luck and got my face smashed in by 3 little wannabe thugs and had to get surgery on my eye. Shortly there after I decided to move away from Toronto and live in Montreal running Goodfoot.

I'll make a part 3 later...

a meeee-ontage

so today i'm celebrating(aka not celebrating) my 29th year of life on this fantastic planet

so i decided to throw together a small posse of photos of me in various stages of life up until now

this is my bare ass running towards unknown legs that i think belong to my mother.
i can't be more than 2 years old here. i also have blonde hair which is weird but i guess a lot of babies start out blonde, right?

i'm in the grey cardigan with the sideways look, top row. my longest standing friend and homie Matthew is the kid with the tooth missing grin in the row below on the end. amazing. I'm probably about 4 or 5 years old in this one.

this is probably the first walkman ever made. i was probably bumping some weird shit since my parents listened to a lot of frank zappa and todd rundgren when i was growing up. i'm probably about 5 or 6 here.

what you can't see in this pic is that i have a rat tail haircut. if you don't know what that is you don't deserve to continue reading this so just shut your browser now. I'm probably 8 or 9 here and that's my younger sister Caitlin beside me.

shortly thereafter i got glasses and shaved my head which is pretty much the hairstyle i ran with for a long time and am still rocking. i'm in the forest on some exploration/nature walk thing with the kids from my school. i'm anywhere from 9-11 years oldat this point.

this was near the closing of my "awkward stage" before i got a lot taller and hit puberty. i got super chubby and did lots of dance routines. as you can see from the pic the san antonio spurs were my favourite team. they most definitely are NOT my favourite team at this point. i'm wearing low cut suede or nubuck doc marten's in this pic and it's too bad you can't see them because it was a sick outfit. i'm in grade 8 so that makes me 12 or 13 i honestly don't care to do the exact math.

this pic is from the same week as the one above but i included it because it's pretty much the best. i have the closest thing that wavy caucasian hair can get to dreads going on. i created them from this shit called moulding mud and i'm also rocking a rayon short sleeve dress shirt with overalls that have one strap hanging down. that kid beside me is anton feitelberg...i have no idea what he's doing now but holla if you're reading this.

this is after the awkward phase. i got a lot taller and got contact lenses and started cutting my own hair. i have a bizarre version of a hightop fade minus the fade since i didn't know how to and the same overall steez from the last pic. i'm wearing a charlotte hornets jersey/shirt but i really never liked the team that much , just their colours. i'm in my first year of high school here and definitely still a virgin. probably still 13 or maybe 14 years old.

TO BE CONTINUED...gotta upload some more pics.

a lot of controversy

has stirred up over this pic...
it's not an unreleased pushead glow in the dark dunk although there was supposed to be one that got scrapped
it's not even an SB

this is part of a glow in the dark pack that's coming out or not sometime next year or holiday 2006...i hear there's a glow in the dark mowabb as well..

so if anyone posts this and claims it's their pic or they know something about it...tell them to g'et the nuts...

i never saw this when it happened

however it doesn't make this any less dope...

last show of arsenio tribute session with the best in hip-hop at the time

things I'm OCD about

shoelaces being even lengths
beard symmetry
shoes on the shelves having equal spacing
having the perfect jeans behind shoe tongue tuck
fingernail length
cereal/rice milk ratios
going through the guide on the satellite one channel at a time
paying with exact change whenever possible
doing the dishes after a meal
having the right snack/beverage
perfect toasted toast
not having a moustache or too much neck hair
hat tilt
having the right things in the right pockets
records in alphabetical order with singles before the LP if applicable
spelling in online chat
laundromat timing
pairing the right socks together when doing laundry
replying to emails
there's more but thinking about it is making my brain ache

perfection is personal

or something like that
i figured you only get chromed out leather in 1 place so you might as well use it

the whole point of this shit

is to post all the time and i'm not really coming through with the goods
the new kelis track "bossy" is basically the best song to exist in months...anyone who hasn't heard it needs to get up on it

i went to nyc and did lots of spectacular things but i need photos to emphasize my point so i'll update after I get them off my camera.

shouts to chase k1llz and choimatic..thanks for bringing me down to rock the house..dj'ing in nyc may very well be the best experience i've had since doing high school dances in the genesis of my journey of playing records

someone buy me serato so travelling is easier.

excess

i want another bike.
something about this time of year just makes me want to stockpile parts that I got off the internet and take them to Toronto so I can have my steezy mechanic buddies build my new steed and I can ride off into the sunset.

i just did this exact thing last year at around the same time. Keep in mind I live in a hellish climate where riding a bike outside is torture for almost half of the year so this decision to try and get another bike built up is completely unreasonable.

BUT THE NEW FRAME I WANT IS LESS THAN 5 LBS!!! and it comes in raw metal so i could clearcoat that hoe and be sitting pretty.

some dude who shops at the store offered me a powerbook today that may or may not have fallen off of one of the many poorly driven apple delivery trucks for less than a gnote(less than alife pumps I might add) if I take this my plans for a new bike are going to have to sit in the back of the class with the bad kids for at least a couple months.

at least i still have my amazing bike which i love so much and can't wait to slam into walls and jam my feet between the fork and tire in order to stop.

or i could totally flip the script and get laser eye surgery and no longer have to wear dry ass contacts that are currently making my eyes feel like 2 small deserts with no chance of an oasis appearing on the horizon

a picture is worth 1000 posts

some images from the past couple weeks of my life

21 December, 2005

heavy snow fucked my wrists up

shoveling snow def isn't in my job description even though it's great exercise and i actually don't hate it.

i check the weather network everyday just to see how much less snow and how much warmer Toronto is than Montreal....

For instance...last week it was -21 with the windchill here...Toronto a balmy -6.

for all my friends reading this from back home you have no idea how much easier you have it....not only do you not have to deal with french people, cigarette death traps aka bars and clubs, insane language law police, $42 parking tickets, and an a absolute ignorance to anything that's cool...you guys get to enjoy pussy-ass TO winters with dry sidewalks and salt everywhere.

In montreal it gets too cold to use salt so instead they just dump little black pebbles all over the city in ridiculous quantity.
These pebbles end up in your shoes, socks, apartment, place of work, everywhere...they might finally disappear by July but there's really only a few month window before those pieces of crap are back ruining your life.

hopefully the Turks and Caicos location of Goodfoot will open soon and I can get the hell off this godforsaken frozen rock that we call North America. hurricane season can't possibly be worse than winter, can it?

PS...we don't sell boots so stop asking you damn frogs

pushy pigeons

my boy gabe moved to new york for a few months and has found that all the hype really boils down to the fact that everyone there is very very serious about life and trying to survive...people pay $2000 US rent for a small box with roaches and even the pigeons are pushy

leave it to me to bring disaster pretty much anywhere i go...the day that he comes to meet me his car starts making a scary noise and a mechanic tells him over the phone while we were having brunch that his rear end is NO GOOD..basically the car is shot and needs a major parts overhaul before it's safe to drive

so we drove it around for the rest of the afternoon anyways(living on the edge yo!) and tried to drive really slowly and not ever slow down..just gradually accelerate and it didn't really work out

gabe decided to just leave it with a mechanic who's name was ronnie(shirt said PETE) and I haven't heard anything since..hopefully there's a way to salvage it without buying a new rear end

i also ate vegan chicken wings at a spot called foodswings and they were phenomenal

beard

trying to grow a big bushy winter beard sucks

i hate hair on my upper lip and the rest of the hair is really itchy so i know i'll end up shaving it off in a few weeks since my shit is patchy anyways...

i hung out with a baby last night and told her not to watch tv because it will ruin her mind like it has mine so hopefully she got the message
